WEBLOG, Web Date...

May 31, 2001

  • Library Weblogs is a new section of Peter Scott's very helpful library index, LibDex. It links to a fascinating variety of library-related 'blogs, including (but of course!) this very page. We don't use the word fascinating lightly. Weblogs are, in our opinion, one of the best outgrowths of the web -- a rather heady combination of freedom of expression, on-the-streets journalism, and eclectic selections of links -- and it's a delight to see them infiltrating our professional world.

  • Staff Addition: We are delighted to welcome Stewart Unwin, who covers Overseas Collection Development for the National Library of Australia, as an AcqWeb Bibliographer. He has been helping with suggested additions to our publisher listings for quite some time, and now will be formally covering Anthropology and Science Fiction publishers.

  • Metapsychology Online Review, new to our book review section, reviews a wide range of books relevant to mental health and emotions. It is edited Christian Perring, Ph.D.

  • Books and Collectibles is a major rare and out-of-print book finder from Australia. Until today, we have only had one Australian antiquarian agent in our highly selective list, but now we have two. This is the product of J.A.Brebner Pty Ltd., "a small Australian company based in Sydney which has been providing Information Technology software and hardware support to the Australian book and rare book ... for the past twelve years."

  • AcqWeb hasn't been forgotten. We're still doing all of the behind-the-scenes work, but your editor has been completely tied up by a massive redesign of the site that represents her livelihood, i.e. Vanderbilt University Law School. We're delighted to report that the redesign was recently posted and most clean-up has been finished, but now we will be away for a few days. So it goes. Life happens. We look forward to returning with a hefty number of updates soon.

Until next time, wishing you all a pleasant cyber-day,
Ms. A
